Introduction: Discovering My Faith as a Latter-Day Saint
I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, but my path towards deep faith has not been a straight line. Rather, it’s been a journey – one of discovering, deepening, and defending my faith amidst the ebbs and flows of life.
Mission in Mexico: Discovering My Faith
Growing up in the church, I was introduced to the faith early on. But it wasn’t until my teenage years that I truly embarked on my journey of discovering my faith. At the age of 18, I committed to a two-year mission in Aguascalientes, Mexico. During those transformative years, I taught people about Jesus Christ, His plan of salvation, and the restoration of His gospel on earth. But while teaching others, I was also learning – my faith in Jesus Christ blossomed, growing a hundredfold. My time in Mexico was instrumental in discovering my faith on a much deeper level.
Living According to My Discovered Faith
The guiding principles I learned during my mission, such as those embodied in the thirteenth article of faith, continue to inform my life decisions to this day. It says, “We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.” I strive daily to live by these words. Yes, I stumble and falter, but I continually learn from my mistakes and endeavor not to repeat them.
Discovering Faith: My Compass in Life
My faith has helped me establish clear priorities in my life, guiding me in my decision-making process. It has been the compass pointing me to place my family above my company or any worldly value. Moreover, it’s given me a work ethic that I rely on every day, one drawn from Proverbs 20:4: “Those too lazy to plow in the right season will have no food at the harvest.”
The Power of Divine Heritage in My Faith Journey
Above all, my faith has revealed to me the power of understanding our divine heritage. The most important teaching, in my opinion, is the understanding that God is our Heavenly Father. He knows us, loves us, and has a plan for us. We are His spirit children, and His eternal glory is our eternal happiness. This knowledge is not only a comfort but also a call to action.
Learning and Discovering Faith Together
Through this blog, my goal is to share my faith with as many people as I can. I believe God wants me to use my knowledge of technology to spread His gospel, and this platform is one way I aim to do that. In this section, I will share my testimony and beliefs, my study insights, and past experiences that have shaped my life.
But it’s not only about sharing my faith; it’s also about learning from you. While I believe that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints contains the restored gospel and God’s priesthood power on earth, I also know that without God in our lives, we cannot be truly happy.
